In September, I was pleased to get the chance to take part in a special event honoring the groundbreaking work of Dr. Steven A. Rosenberg, the Chief of the Surgery Branch at the National Cancer Institute. The event, called “Past, Present, and Future of Cellular Immunotherapy,” was a two-day scientific symposium celebrating Steven’s 50 years at NCI. The symposium, which was held at the NIH Clinical Center, served as a wonderful tribute to his decades working to advance immunotherapy treatment for patients with cancer. In my brief remarks to introduce Steven, I talked about his great impact on the field and how he served as an inspiration to me early in my career when I was an oncology resident and postdoc. His dedication to his work continues to inspire me.
